After 3 Weeks Of Invisalign I’m Still In Pain, Is Something Wrong With My Aligners?

Q.
Hello there, I’m worried about my aligners. I’m on my 3rd week of using Invisalign aligners but I’m still experiencing a lot of pain around my top front teeth. I have been told by my dentist that it’s normal to experience pain at first but I’m taking painkillers and they don’t even seem to help! Do I need to be worried, is something wrong? I know that because they hurt, the treatment must be working but the pain is unbearable and I just want to keep taking them out. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Thanks for contacting me with your concern. Your dentist is right that it is normal to experience pain at the beginning of the treatment, so you needn’t be worried. Keep taking the painkillers but try not to take the aligners out unless you need to as it will hurt more. It could be worth going back to your dentist to make sure that the fit is correct, as if it isn’t that could be the source of your pain. Good luck!
