Am I Suitable for Invisalign After Having Gum Disease?

Q.
Hello. I have suffered with gum disease for about a year now and have been visiting my dentist for periodontal treatment for a number of months to get it under control. I really want to use Invisalign to straighten my teeth, but am I suitable for it after having gum disease? Due to the gum disease there are gaps between my teeth that are quite noticeable. I plan to book a consultation as soon as I can, but I’d love to hear any advice you might have for me. Thanks in advance!

Hi, thank you for your question. If there’s no signs of inflammation and the gum disease is completely under control, then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to have braces when the gum disease is completely cleared, as long as the teeth are still properly supported. Your dentist will be able to confirm your suitability at the consultation and hopefully get you started with Invisalign! I wish you the best of luck.
