Is Invisalign The Right Treatment For Me?

February 10th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Thorne, I hope you can help me with my enquiry, I recently visited a orthodontist who recommended to me Invisalign, my top teeth stick out a lot with lots of gaps, plus my jaw is further back. Is Invisalign the right treatment for me? I’m unaware of the other types of braces there are and would like to know what each can do for me. Thank you in advance, I look forward to hearing you advice and information on this matter.

I Have Suffered From Gum Disease For Some Time. I Want To Know If I’ll Be A Suitable Candidate For Invisalign?

November 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Thorne. I’m a long term gum disease sufferer. I’ve managed to get it under control now with regular visits to my local dental hygienist. I am desperate for braces and was wondering if I am suitable candidate for Invisalign following gum disease? I feel it’s caused large gaps in my smile and I want to get my teeth re-aligned. I used to have such nice teeth! Any advice would really be great, I’m going to book a consultation as soon as I can get the time off from work. Thank you!

Hi. I’m Becoming Frustrated By My Orthodontist, He Said My Invisalign Treatment Would Be Straightforward But I’ve Lost A Tooth.

October 14th, 2013
Q.

Hi. I am currently receiving Invisalign from an Invisalign preferred orthodontist, that’s why I visited him in the first place. He said that treatment would be smooth and results were going to predictable. I’m very disappointed with the treatment thus far. I have had to have a tooth removed, which he said wouldn’t be required and I’ve had several ulcers that keep coming back. Can you please advise me? Because I’m beginning to lose my rag with him. Cheers.

Is My Dentist Trying To Con Me With Expensive Braces Costs?

August 9th, 2013
Q.

Hi Adam, here’s my problem: I personally don’t think I need braces, I’m convinced that a couple of veneers would simply do the trick. I think my dentist is trying to con me, I don’t know how to go about approaching the subject. I’ve already expressed my concerns because the gap is tiny but he’s saying I need fixed braces! Can you please advise me, honestly, I don’t think I’m going to get the right treatment. He says I’ll have to wear them for at least a year!

Can I Still Swim If I’m Wearing Invisalign?

July 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hi I was just wondering if you could help me with something? I’m a professional swimmer and looking into straightening my teeth with invisalign. Would this system be suitable for me? I mean in terms of wearing them? It would be ideal for me to keep the aligners in but I swim every day, twice a day so how would I go about keeping the aligners in? Also, if I did keep them in are they likely to stain due to the chlorine? Just some general advice would be nice before I visit my orthodontist, I’d just like to gather some general tips and such. Thank you for your time!

Is Invisalign Right For Me? Or Should I Consider Another Brace?

June 10th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I am 15 and I have had braces before. I was given treatment for my overbite, however I lost my retainer and my teeth moved back and I don’t like the way they look anymore, it’s only my top teeth and there’s only a few teeth out of place so do you think invisalign is the right treatment? i have heard that it’s pretty expensive however so  what’s the maximum price you think I would have to pay? are there any other options you think i should consider? i want something that you can’t see,  i was already picked on for wearing my other train track braces.Would i be able to get help with the NHS due to my age? I’m not sure how i’m supposed to go about getting them fixed. thanks for your time.

How Long Will A Vivera Retainer Last For?

May 20th, 2013
Q.

Dear Dr Thorne

I am considering an Invisalign course and can see from the website that treatment for the average person starts at approximately £2500. Whilst I accept that Vivera retainers will need to be worn for the rest of my life I am unable to find anywhere on the website the cost implication of this. How long, on average, is a Vivera retainer expected to last, is the lifetime supply included as part of the course of treatment, if not how much are a pair of retainers?

regards. Hope to hear from you soon.

Can You Achieve The Same Results With Invisible Braces?

March 25th, 2013
Q.

Hello doctor Thorne, I am very concerned about my teeth. I have very crooked teeth and have been wanting to sort them out for years. I am now consulting with my dentist to have some orthodontic work done to fix my teeth. I absolutely dont want to have my teeth in metal braces as i dont wish my appearance to compromise peoples opinions of me particularly in work. However, I just dont fully understand how invisalign and the other invisible braces really work and if they can really be as successful in straightening your teeth as the mental fixed braces as my teeth are really very very crooked. What do you recommend for people with severely crooked teeth

Will Invisalign Fix My Overbite?

March 25th, 2013
Q.

Hello there Dr Thorne, i was wondering if you could help me, I have an appointment booked next week to see a dentist locally who uses invisalign my teeth are really overcrowded and  i have been told in the past that i have a  particularly narrow mouth, and along side this problem, a few of my teeth overlap and i suffer from a slight over bite. Is the treatment of invisalign still available and is it able to treat for over bites?

My Treatment Is Coming To An End And I Still Have Gaps In My Teeth

February 12th, 2013
Q.

Hi Adam =),

I currently have braces and have had them for about 14 months now. I wanted them to close the gaps i have between some of my teeth, but was told i needed them because my upper jaw is smaller than my lower jaw, and i have a cross bite. So they tried to move my jaw, my teeth were already straight and about 4 months ago i was told that my jaw wouldn’t move anymore, it was stubborn. Haha!
They did work on closing my gaps, which is usually very simple to do with power chains, as i’ve been told by friends and from researching online. But this doesn’t seem to be the same for me. They’ve taken the power chains off my upper set and replaced the wire with a rectangular steel wire, and from research, i have found that this is a wire used when treatment is basically finished. But i’m not happy, i assume that they can close the gaps as i have about 4 small gaps range from about 0.5mm to about 2mm wide, they’ve closed a bit, but i still think my teeth look horrible, my teeth seem to look diagonal when i take a picture and look at them. Should i ask my dentist if there is anything i can do about it? Or do you think an invisalign lite treatment could be used just to close the gaps on my upper set? If so could you give me a rough estimate of the time it would take and the price?

Thank you
