Will Invisalign Close the Gaps Between My Teeth?

August 29th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Patel! Recently I’ve been considering my options for braces and Invisalign sound great. I had braces about 6 years ago to fix my overbite, and my teeth are still more or less straight, but a few of my front teeth on the top and bottom have gaps in them and the bottom ones are slightly slanted. Would Invisalign be suitable to close these gaps? I’d also like to know how much it would cost if I were to go ahead with Invisalign, and also how long the process would take. Thank you, I look forward to your reply.

My Aligner is Bent. Should I Visit My Orthodontist?

August 11th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Patel, hope you are well. I’ve been wearing Invisalign aligners for a good 2 months now and so far am very happy as there have been no problems. But the other day I dropped my aligner on the kitchen floor and it sort of looks bent now. It still fits alright but should I go to my orthodontist about it anyway? I’ve got quite a while to go until my next visit but I’m worried that the bend will affect my treatment even though it’s only very slight. Do you think I should make an appointment?

How Much Does it Cost to Replace an Aligner?

July 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. Invisalign braces seem like the ideal option for me because they’re removable and discreet, but I am really clumsy and manage to lose everything so I’m worried I’d lose my aligner! How much would I have to pay if that happened? I also wanted to ask if there’s a cooling off period in case the aligners don’t agree with my for whatever reason? Another worry I’ve got is that I’ll find them painful and just want to take them out all the time. Thank you!

Is Invisalign Treatment Suitable for My 13 Year Old Son?

June 17th, 2014
Q.

Hello there, I have a question on behalf of my 13 year old son. Now that all his teeth have come through, we are considering braces as they are quite crooked and lacks confidence at school. He says he would feel much less awkward wearing Invisalign because they’re much less visible than the chunky metal braces. Would he be able to have Invisalign treatment even though he’s only 13? Thank you for any advice you might be able to offer.

Will My Wisdom Teeth Affect My Treatment?

May 8th, 2014
Q.

I began the invisalign treatment a few months ago but my wisdom teeth have started to erupt. My dentist has said one of them has to be removed because of how it’s growing. So with this in mind, I’m really worried that it’s going to affect my treatment. It was going so well and I feel it’s all going to go wrong now. Can you please try and ease these fears for me? I’m due to see my orthodontist in 2 weeks but frightened about what he’s going to tell me.

I Grind My Teeth During The Night. Will This Affect Invisalign Treatment?

Q.

Hello Dr. Patel.  I am thinking about getting Invisalign to straighten my teeth.
Unfortunately, I grind my teeth in my sleep. Does this affect the aligners?

Thank you, Lisa.

I Just Had My Aligners Removed, Along With 3 Teeth! What Happened?

July 29th, 2013
Q.

Hello there.I’m an adult and I’ve recently had Invaslign. When they were taken off, three of my teeth were broken. Is this common? I am currently 67 years old and none of my teeth have broken before. The treatment was going fine, all to plan with no worries at all. Then as soon as the aligners are removed by teeth come out with it! Do you think I had some underlying gum disease problem or something? Something that the orthodontist may have missed? I don’t know what else to do and don’t know where to turn from here. The orthodontist was just as shocked as I was and has referred me to a specialist dentist. I just feel as though I’ve wasted months on the treatment only for it to be completely unsuccessful. Thank you for your time.

Can Invisalign Fix My Daughters Rotated Canine Tooth?

June 25th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel, I am interested and very attracted to the idea of invisalign for my daughter, instead of fixed, metal bracket braces. My daughter is only 17 and has unfortunately crooked teeth but is otherwise very beautiful and currently doing some modelling work. We believe she could go far in this career but she will need to have her teeth sorted. We would like to have this done with invisible braces or even braces that can be removed like invisalign. However, one of her canine teeth on the lower set it rotated almost 45 degrees, can this be fixed through invisalign and can she get them free on the NHS?

I’m on my tenth set of aligners and still haven’t been seen by my orthodontist, is this right?

June 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello Doctor Patel. I wondered if you could please advise me on something? I have a problem with an overbite and so decided to start using invisalign last September.
I am now on my tenth set of aligners and still haven’t been seen again by my orthodontist. I haven’t been asked to arrange an appointment or anything. I thought the aligners had to be changed and fitted by them? To ensure the correct fit etc. I am not sure if I’m on the right track. I only saw him in my consultation day.
Is this right? I don’t even know if the treatment is working properly, as I’m not really sure what to expect. These aligners cost me a fortune. I don’t know what I should do, should I ring the practice up do you think, I don’t want to insult him by suggesting he isn’t providing me with the correct treatment.  What do you think?

Is My Aligner Supposed To Be Slightly Loose?

May 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hi Doctor, I have a little problem that I don’t want to leave to chance in case it hinders my whole treatment. Basically, I don’t think my aligners are fitting properly, the first time I received my set they really hurt and I was consistently feeling them, so they didn’t give up hurting till i received my new set. Now my new set feels a little loose and there’s no strain whatsoever, I don’t feel any pressure…nothing. Is this normal? My orthodontist asked if they fit okay, which I thought they did,,,but in comparison with my first set I’m not entirely sure. Can you please advise me? Thank you!
