My Teeth Look Bigger After Wearing Braces. Will They Ever Shrink Back?

June 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hi there, I have a question to ask. 8 months ago I had my metal braces removed, they’d been on for just over 18 months. Since they’ve been off I’ve noticed that my teeth are a lot bigger as a result, in particular the two teeth at the front. My dentist tells me that this is because of the bone reforming – I was actually worried that my teeth had been pulled away from the gums. Obviously I’m disappointed because I thought after having braces I’d finally be happy with my smile but this makes me feel even worse about my teeth. Will they ever shrink back?

Can I Have Invisalign Treatment Even Though Some Teeth Are Missing?

June 19th, 2014
Q.

Hi there, I was wondering if you could shed some light on my situation. I was involved in an accident a couple of years ago and I ended up losing three of my teeth. I would like Invisalign braces but will they still work even though I don’t have a full set of teeth? I can’t afford to get them straightened AND have the missing ones replaced, so which do you think I should go for? Thanks.

Can Crowns Be Used to Straighten Teeth?

June 18th, 2014
Q.

Hello, I have a question to ask. I’m 65 years old and have been to see my dentist about having my teeth straightened. I assumed he would suggest braces of some sort, but he wants to do it by using crowns – 20 of them! He told me that my teeth won’t move easily with a brace, but when they’ve been crowned they will be re-aligned, so not crooked anymore. I just thought I’d come to you for a second opinion. Can teeth be straightened with crowns?

Are There Any Discreet Braces Suitable for People That Grind Their Teeth?

June 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi, I’ve been looking into braces for a long time now but I grind my teeth at night. My dentist has been trying to get this under control but it’s still a really bad habit of mine. Is there any discreet brace you can recommend that would be suitable for me? My teeth were already misaligned before I started grinding my teeth…so that isn’t the problem! I wanted Invisalign but have been told because they’re aligners they won’t be suitable because of the grinding. Thank you for your help!

I Don’t Think My Invisalign Treatment Worked As Well As I Expected. What Can Be Done?

January 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Thorne I hope you can help me with my enquiry as it’s really bugging me and I would like to get it sorted out. I finished my Invisalign full treatment around a month ago and I voiced my concerns to my dentist that I still feel like they are not 5,000 pounds straight and he said to whiten them, and file out some of the ridges. I am still not happy. What can be done? Any advice you can provide me with will really be doing me a big favour. Thanks.

I’ve Been To A Number Of Consultations And They Say I Need Braces To Straighten Just One Tooth, Is This Necessary?

September 30th, 2013
Q.

Hello! I think I have a problem regarding orthodontistry. I’ve been to a number of consultations now and every time I’ve been recommended a different type of brace so I don’t know what to do! All I want is one front tooth treating, it’s currently twisted quite badly but it’s the only one that I want treating at the moment. I’ve been recommended for 6 month smiles and Invisalign but I only want the one tooth fixing so I feel these two options are a bit over the top and extreme in the least. Is there anything you can recommend for the treatment of just the one tooth? Thank you!

Is it usual to require more aligners beyond the suggestion treatment time?

June 19th, 2012
Q.

hello dr

is it usual for invisalign treatment to take longer than was first diagnosed-so to speak! I though it would only be twelve months, but now my dentist wants me to have another two months of braces. I just wanted to make sure tht this was common practice mainly because i think my teeth look perfect now. What do you think is my best course of action?
thank you for your help on the matter,

My top teeth are a little bit crooked, but my bottom are just horredous, all bunched together like there is no room for any of them. Would i be able to have treatment for both top and bottom and how long and how much would this take?

My husband has suffered tooth misalignment after a car accident, can he have a brace?

April 30th, 2012
Q.

Hello, my husband had a car accident just over a year ago and three of his teeth at the front of his mouth took some of the impact. whilst they didnt break or crack he feels that these three particulat teeth are not aligned with the rest of his teeth but have bucked backwards slightly. His teeth are painful but he won’t go to the dentist becuase he is worried that they willl remove his teeth.
I have been researching online about different treatments and I wondered if the invisal brace would help my husband?
He has somewhat of a phobia and won’t even research it on the internet. Any help would be great. Thank you.

November 28th, 2011
Q.

my top teeth kinda stick inwards, if you get what i mean. So i look like a ruddy chipmunk, which of course is not a nice look. I was wondering if you could use invisalign to treat my problem, or would i require a different type of brace for that? Could to recommend a good brace if invisalign isn’t the right type of brace for me?

thank you doctor for any help that you can give to me
