Do I Need Time Off Work If Invisalign Affects My Speech?

Q.
Hello! I’m currently working in an important role over at a call centre but I’m due to have my first set of aligners next week, so I’ve booked a day’s holiday to receive them. I didn’t ask if they’d affect my speech because I didn’t think anything of it at the time, is this something I should be concerned about? Do you think I should speak to my boss about it? Maybe ask for a couple more days off? Because obviously, I can’t work in a call centre if I can’t speak properly surely! Thanks for your time, I hope you can advise me!

Hello, thank you for your question. The aligners will affect your speech for the first couple of days whilst your mouth is getting used to them, but it should only be a very slight lisp and as I say this will only last for a few days, providing that the aligners are properly fitted. Good luck with the treatment!
