I know that both Invisalign and lingual braces are both invisible braces, but what is the difference between them?

Q.
Hello, I am thinking of Invisalign but I have heard that that there is something called lingual braces that is better than Invisalign and that Kate Middleton has used this. DO you have any advice on which one I should go for and if they are different in terms of costs?
A.
Hi
Invisalign is a set of removable clear braces (aligners) that you change every 2 weeks. They are comfortable to wear, virtually invisible and as they are removable, easier to keep the teeth and gums clean. They should be worn day and night, just removed for eating, hot and sugary drinks and to brush and floss your teeth.
Lingual braces such as Incognito are fixed braces (‘train tracks’) that are fixed to the inside of your teeth so can’t been seen at all when you smile. They use a wire to move the teeth into a better position.
Both work extremely well, though lingual braces can be a quicker treatment as a wire is used and fixed to the teeth, especially when teeth are rotated / turned, you need to bring teeth down or widening your smile. They can be more expensive as they are tailor made for you as an individual.
Please see www.invisible-braces.co.uk for more information
I would recommend a consultation with an orthodontist to assess your suitability and give you some costs.
Good luck!
