Hello Dr Akere. I’ve been considering Invisalign but I have a few questions first. Is a retainer always needed after the aligners? Are the aligners completely invisible? I used to have fixed braces and was picked on for them constantly, I don’t want it to happen again! Thank you in advance.

Hi there, thank you for your question. You will need long-term retainers after completing Invisalign treatment. If you don’t wear a retainer then your teeth can move back into their original position. Retainers can either be fixed to the back of the front teeth, or removable and only worn at night. The reason Invisalign braces are so popular is that they are nearly invisible, they will be barely noticeable when you’re wearing them. Good luck!
