Hi Drs Cannell and Stafford. I’m 24 and my teeth are horrible. I was told I didn’t need braces when I was younger but as I’ve got older they’ve just got worse and worse.I have real confidence issues because of them so I really want to get them sorted out. I don’t want metal braces because I’m too self-conscious. I have a severe cross bite, do you think Invisalign would be as good as fixing this problem as metal braces? Thank you.

Hi, thank you for your question. It depends on how far your teeth have to move, I’d have to see you to know whether Invisalign or metal braces would be more effective. But there are now discreet braces available so you wouldn’t have to feel self-conscious about fixed braces – you can get tooth coloured ones such as Damon Clear, or you could get lingual braces like Incognito that are fixed to the back of your teeth so nobody can see them.
