My Invisalign aligner is extremely uncomfortable. What should I do?

Q.
Please could you help me as I am and have been in considerable discomfort (jaw ache and more recently a nearly permanently ‘popping’ blocked ear on the same right hand side where my bite is wrong) since having Invisalign braces fitted over a year ago. The result looks fine asthetically but my bite has been altered (was completely fine before) as an area of the top and bottom jaw teeth on the right hand side do not sit correctly. I have gone back to the Invisalign orthodontist three times now and he just keeps saying they look great and files more of the tooth that is catching down. That tooth is now very sensitive and I still have a permanent and horrible sensation of not being able to properly relax the right hand side of my jaw as my bite is wrong. The jaw ache is getting worse and now my ear is playing up I really need to have it looked at and I believe a small adjustment made but I can’t afford to pay out more money to have it corrected. Is there a contact person at Invisalign or a procedure when this sort of problem occurs? I have read on line about being referred to Invisalign’s Clincal Physician? Have you heard of this? Any help would be hugely appreciated as I really don’t know what to do now and the orthodontist who did my brace just will not help. Many thanks and kind regards.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems. It may be better to get a second opinion from another dentist that specialises in jaw realtions and the bite. Roy Higson comes to mind or George Druttman in London Dr R Kumar BDSLDSRCS
