Why Has My Bite Changed?

August 12th, 2014
Q.

Hi Drs. I’m really concerned about my bite. I recently finished my Invisalign treatment and have noticed a change in my bite from when I started. I thought it was because of the aligners doing their job during the treatment but obviously now the problem is still here. My molars don’t touch when I close my jaws and it doesn’t feel right. My dentist told me the aligners wouldn’t affect my bite but obviously this is not true. Will I have this problem forever now or is there something that can be done to put it right?

What treatment should I choose to correct my bite?

April 30th, 2012
Q.

Hi, when I smile my back teeth meet but my front teeth don’t, I think my dentist said it was a high in bite but I could be wrong, he said to get it fixed I would have to have my jaw broken and it all re-set he also said I would be awake!. It’s never really bothered me but recently I’ve noticed it seems to be getting worse, I can’t bite sellotape and eating things like sandwiches with tomato or cucumber on is becoming harder as I can’t bite through it so usually end up with it hanging out of my mouth which as you can imagine is embarrassing. I was just wondering if there is another way of getting the problem sorted and if not is there away of being put to sleep to have it done, I’m not the best patient and usually have a little cry and shake no matter how small the procedure so the thought of being awake whilst they broke my jaw is petrifying. Also I know that I wouldnt be able to have this done under the NHS so I was wondering how much this is likely to cost to have done Thank you for taking the time out to read this is much appreciated.

I don’t want jaw surgery, though I was recommended it. Could Invisalign work?

March 29th, 2011
Q.

I want for an Invisalign consultation because I would like to straigten my teeth (which aren’t particularly bad). The dentist said that I had a problem with my bite which only jaw surgery could solve. I DEFINITELY do not want to get jaw surgery. Could I go ahead with the Invisalign regardless or should I get a second opinion?

My bite feels different and I have jaw pain since beginning Invisalign treatment. Should I be worried?

October 7th, 2010
Q.
I just started Invisalign treatment with a new dentist having had previsou braces treatment in the past but was never completely happy. i have only been started on the treatment for four days but I am getting a very uncomfortable pain in my jaw and I can only figure that it would be linked to the invisalign. But I dont know what reason there could be for this as doesn\’t the brace just move the teeth? My bite also feels different, worse. This was never part of my treatment plan. Should I be worried or is the treatment devloping and going to end all happy and dandy?!,

Can invisalign help with problems of the bite?

May 27th, 2010
Q.
Is Invisalign able to help with problems with the bite or is it specifically for crooked teeth. I am considering this but could you tell me if fixed braces would be the better option? I would of course prefer the discreteness of this brace but want best results as well!,
