I have just moved on to wearing Essix retainers but I think they might be pushing against my filling as it is really painful.

April 27th, 2011
Q.

I finished Invisalign treatment in March 2011 and was fitted with an Essix retainer which was a well fitted. I had a filling replaced on the top teeth and it felt slightly thicker than the mold. Since then I have been in constant pain and the teeth appear to have moved. I now have numbness and swelling to my upper jaw and it looks as if the incisor has pulled down. I have been advised by NHS Direct Dental Nurse to remove retainer as I have an appointment with my orthodontist in 4 days. Will another course of invisalign correct this? Could you please advise?

What standard do your teeth have to be befoe starting the invisalign treatment? I have quite a few fillings, done over the years in different places, would I need to get them all standardised or something?,

Is it advisable to have a a chipped tooth filled if I have an overbite?

January 5th, 2011
Q.
Hi, i am 26 and after previously been told by denitist that i visited when I was 16 to 18 that i dont need braces and now I have been advised i do. I booked an appointment with a new dentist as I chipped a minor part of my bottom front and top front tooth. I firstly thought it was the weakening of the enamel as I like using whitening tooth paste and that can be abrasive. The dentist I visited has put me down for 2 sessions for cleaning and will smooth the chips down though advises me not to get the chips filled as they will come off within a week as I have a slight cross bite with my 3 upper teeth on the left handside and he states that im am subconciously grinding my front teeth at night as i know the alignment is not right. Surely the filling composite is not that weak that it would come off in a week or shall opt for him to file them down slightly as the chips are not that major. I have booked an appointment at your leicester site in the new year to look into my orthodontic options. I am just disappointed that previous dentisits i have gone through have not advised me of the problems i would have faced when i went regulalrly in my teens and therefore feeling complacent I have not been going regulaly as i have not had any painful problems. I am concerned about the getting braces as just with my minor chip on my bottom tooth my tongue was getting caught on the rough edge and got soar and that has caused me to lisp slightly for a week and me working in a call centre that is not great as i have felt really concious though that is healing and now I was advised that i am subconciously grinding my teeth, I feel concious sleeping at night. your input would be greatful,

Filling is affecting my Invisalign treatment

May 25th, 2010
Q.
I had a filling placed last week and the dentist said it wouldn\’t affect my aligners because it\’s only a small filling. Anyway, i\’ve had the filling and it is affecting my treatment, my bottom set doesn\’t fit right and sticks up at the back, it\’s very uncomfortable. Will i have to get a new aligner fitted now?? AND will it cost me extra as my parents have already paid for the treatment. Thank you,

Will I need new aligners made if I need a filling?

May 12th, 2010
Q.
I can feel holes in one of my teeth on the back of my mouth, bottom jaw =( and i have the aligners in. I\’m due a check-up this week and touch-ups for my aligners too. My dentist will obviously see these small holes won\’t he? and he\’ll want to fill them which mean that my aligners will have to be re-made! will this cost me more money? or is there another way around getting them re-fitted? thanks,

Will having a filling affect my invisalign treatment?

April 21st, 2010
Q.
My normal dentist has told me that I am going to need to get a filling but I am half way through my Invisalign treatment. I am concerned that this may have an impact on my treatment and make the aligner not fit properly but can you tell me if this is the case?,

Would getting a filling affect the fit of aligner?

March 17th, 2010
Q.
I went to my normal dentist for a routine check up and he told me that two of my teeth are going to need fillings and he even told me that this may effect how my aligners fit. Do you have any experience with this and if so could you tell me if this is the case. This has got me worrying that I have ruined my treatment.,
