Is it usual to straighten teeth using crowns instead of braces?

April 5th, 2012
Q.

How common is it to straighten teeth only by crowns and not using any braces? My cosmetic dentist is proposing to do 22 crowns! I am 66yrs old and I have a lot of big fillings. He says he can create space (1mm) by changing my bite and that my jaw muscles will accomodate this. He says my crooked teeth will not easliy move with a brace but says my teeth when crowned, will be re-aligned. I have a very deep bite on my front teeth resulting in excessive wear on LR1&2 and LL1&2. Advice please

have you treated adults with invisalign treatment? The thing is they are in a bad condition, really wonky and some of my teeth are a bit loose, also my mouth is full of crowns and fillings etc and the enamel on my teeth has worn pretty bad.,

Can I have my fillings done through the NHS instead of having them done by my private orthodontist?

May 14th, 2010
Q.
Hi I need x3 fillings, and im half way through my Invisalign. Im surprised iy it wasnt best practice for my ortho to thoroughly check for cavaties before starting treatment. My NHS dentist will charge me significantly less then my private ortho- do you think it is ok for my NHS dentist to do them if i inform him of the invisalign. I feel like my ortho is scaring me to go through him, saying it will costs me a huge amoutn if i need new impressions made because of the fillings. whats your advice? Many thanks,
