Q. I was all set on getting invisalign and have been for a preliminary consultation. my dentsit seemed to think that I should have some of my teeth filed down. this has put me right off, it soudns unpleasant and i’m worried it will weakne my teeth. Is it necessary?,
A. To relieve crowding ,space is needed. These space can be generated either by filing some enamel between the teeth or extraction of teeth. However depending on the degree of crowding other forms of correction without filing involves arch expansion as well as distalization which is moving the back teeth slightly backwards and work your way forward. This does prolong the treatment time.
