Hello Doctor,
I am currently having Invisalign treatment and have been wearing braces for about four months now. Everything has been going fine and my dentist is happy with the results so far as am I. The problem is that for the last nine days I have been extremely ill with a throat and chest infection and have not been wearing my aligners. Mainly because I have just felt too ill to bother and also I have been coughing a lot and they were inconvenient really. Perhaps being ill I wasn’t thinking properly. Anyway, I know i have to confess this to my dentist ASAP but what do you think the outcome will be? has it messed up my whole treatment ? Thanks you in advance.

Can you fit your current aligner in, or the one before (in the red case), without any discomfort? And is it close fitting? If so treatment can be picked up once you have seen your dentist.
If not then your dentist will likely make up some holding retainers and take some further impressions and photographs for additional aligners (known as a mid-course correction) but there may be an additional charge for these…whatever happens I would suggest an appointment sooner rather than later!
