Are Missing Back Molars A Problem When Considering Invisalign?

Q.
Hello Dr Kumar. I just wondered if you could tell me whether having missing back molar impacts on the success rates of Invisalign? I’m not even sure if I’m suitable yet, and I’m due for a consultation at the dental suite next week but I really want Invisalign. I don’t think I will be happy with anything else that they have to offer me. Are missing teeth a huge problem with this treatment? I’m hoping the aligners will actually close the gap caused by my missing teeth. Many thanks. It would be great to hear from you so I can move on with this matter.

Dear Sir/Madam, the fact you are missing back molar on its own is not a problem, but you do need anchorage so molars are needed.
It is not possible to close a molar space with Invisalign. Make sure you have in mind each thing you would like to discuss with your orthondontist before your consultation. Thank you, I hope this helps to clarify your situation. Dr R Kumar.
