Can I have Invisalign braces even though I had an impacted canine in the past?

Q.
Dear Dr Raj,

When I was younger and went to get braces, the dentist told me that I have an impacted tooth which will need to be removed before I get the braces. This threw me off and 10 years down the line I regret not doing it.

Today I went to the dentist for the first time in years, and he told me that the tooth needs NOT to be removed and I can progress with Invisalign. But im not sure because why did the dentist who I saw the first time mention it?

My front Incisors are straight but wonky to the side and I’m afraid the impacted tooth is causing the wonkiness by forcing them to grow at an angle. If I were to get Invisalign to straighten these wonky front teeth, are there any risks that it make hit the impacted canine? Or what would happen if they did?

Thanks!

A.
Dear enquirer, the impacted canine is usually deeply buried. When you were young your dentist may have wanted to move the premolars across the path of the canine. Now that all your teeth are through, except one, then the dentist can probably tip/move/rotate teeth into straight position and the high canine may not be a problem. I have done this procedure but every case needs careful planning.
