I have just had my Invisalign braces attachment removed and can feel a crack, what should I do?

Q.
Hello, hope you can help me.

I have now come to the end of my Invisalign and am happy with positioning of my teeth.

However, I’ve just had my attachments removed and when I got home I discovered a crack in one of the teeth where the attachment was fixed to. This crack was definitely not there prior to the attachment being removed. As well as being able to see it, I can also slightly feel it! The attachment did take quite a lot of hard work to remove.

What should I do. Could this be a serious problem? Obviously I’ve spent a lot of money and waited two years to see the benefit of this treatment, to now be left with this.

My orthodontist didn’t mention it to me. Is it serious, and what should I do?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi there! It is probably nothing to worry about! Sometimes a little bit of the attachment material is left on the tooth and you can see it and feel is as a line. Give your orthodontist a ring and go for a review, if there is any left there he will be able to polish it off. If it is in fact a crack line, those are usually contained in the outer layer of the tooth and are called “craze lines”. I personally have plenty of them, it is a natural thing that can happen to teeth from chewing and there is absolutely nothing to worry about! Best of luck, please remember to wear your retainers, Vasileia.
