my teeth are pretty bad, crowded, crooked and i have an overbite and so i feel i need to turn to braces. I was just going to go for metal braces but then i heard of invisalign which sound great, but i wonder how strong they are, are they only for mild smile imperfections or can they be used for someone like me who has numerous problems and teeth which are in pretty bad condition?

If done by a dentist with lots of experience, with over 150 finished cases, then Invisalign will work wonders.
My advice find a reputable dentist that does Invisalign.
Do not be tempted by metal braces unless u have had 3 refusals from Invisalign dentists.
