Invisalign teatment for twisted, crooked teeth and an overbite

Q.
Hi,

i was looking at invisalign as i have several twisted, crooked teeth and an overbite and just wondered what is the general length of treatment? Is it true that you have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life afterward?

Many thanks doctors

A.
Hi,
The length of your Invisalign treatment is very much dependent upon the severity of your malocclusion,ie the extent of your overbite and the degree of crookedness to your initial tooth position.
Invisalign treatments can be as short as 28 weeks but on average the treatment times generally vary between 9-18 months to achieve the best possible results. After a consultation with an experienced Invisalign Doctor you will be given an approximate indication of your likely treatment time.
With regards retainers, after any form of orthodontics teeth have the ability to move again, so we personally recommend either fixed or removable retainers at the end of the Invisalign treatment for life.
Good Luck with your Invisalign treatment.
Best Wishes
