My gums have started bleeding since I have started wearing Invisalign.

Q.
hello,

i have recently started invisalign treatment and am about one month in.
I have always had healthy if not crooked teeth but all of a sudden my gums have started bleeding. Ive always maintained good oral health and keep excellent care of my teeth do you think the pressure of invisalign is to blame?
Is there anything I can do, will I have to stop the treatment?

thanks for your time

A.
Hi,
It is difficult for me to answer your questions thoroughly without a full clinical examination, but having completed a vast number of Invisalign cases I do not believe that the “pressure” created by the Invisalign aligners will be the cause of your bleeding gums. Gums can bleed for a number of reasons and only a full clinical examination will be able to establish the cause for you.
During any form of orthodontic treatment it is crucial that your oral Hygiene regime is of a high standard. One of the great advantages of Invisalign Orthodontic therapy is that you are able to remove your appliances to access and clean your teeth to the best possible standard. My advice would be to seek advise from your Invisalign Doctor who I am sure after seeing you in person will be able to answer any of your concerns.
Best wishes
