My Invisalign aligners don’t fit my teeth perfectly, what should I do?

Q.
I am on my 6th set now and have noticed that on one tooth the plastic is not sitting flush to the end of my tooth, there is an excess. I have mentioned this to my dentist and he said it gives the tooth room to grow down, I don’t believe this as it is not the case for any other tooth. Now the tooth on the opposite side has done the same with my new set? Please can you let me know if you think they are not moving properly?

Hi
Were the aligners sitting flush on the tooth at the beginning of the treatment? If so it sounds as if they are not moving as proposed. You need to check there are no teeth restricting the movement (eg is any adjustment required – ‘IPR’?). The other cause may be the aligners aren’t being worn full time. Be really honest and open – are you wearing these 21 to 22+ hours per 24? Invisalign is a great treatment so long as the aligners are worn as prescribed.
Whatever the cause (and there are others) I would suggest returning to your dentist and showing him how they are seating.
Good luck
