My Treatment Is Coming To An End And I Still Have Gaps In My Teeth

Q.
Hi Adam =),

I currently have braces and have had them for about 14 months now. I wanted them to close the gaps i have between some of my teeth, but was told i needed them because my upper jaw is smaller than my lower jaw, and i have a cross bite. So they tried to move my jaw, my teeth were already straight and about 4 months ago i was told that my jaw wouldn’t move anymore, it was stubborn. Haha!
They did work on closing my gaps, which is usually very simple to do with power chains, as i’ve been told by friends and from researching online. But this doesn’t seem to be the same for me. They’ve taken the power chains off my upper set and replaced the wire with a rectangular steel wire, and from research, i have found that this is a wire used when treatment is basically finished. But i’m not happy, i assume that they can close the gaps as i have about 4 small gaps range from about 0.5mm to about 2mm wide, they’ve closed a bit, but i still think my teeth look horrible, my teeth seem to look diagonal when i take a picture and look at them. Should i ask my dentist if there is anything i can do about it? Or do you think an invisalign lite treatment could be used just to close the gaps on my upper set? If so could you give me a rough estimate of the time it would take and the price?

Thank you

A.
Hi
Invisalign Lite is for simpler movements (up to 14 aligners or about 7 months), can close these spaces if the bite allows, but my reservations would be that if fixed braces haven’t done this in 14 months, it may struggle to correct this. Also if you teeth seem to be diagonal in alignment, fixed braces would be better to upright these.
Therefore, if you have fixed braces currently on your teeth I would suggest you use these to complete your treatment and speak to you orthodontist about your concerns.
Good luck
Adam
