How can you be sure that teeth will move properly with Invisalign treatment?

August 25th, 2011
Q.

Hello doctor Sepehrara,

i just wanted to ask a general question about how the invisalign aligners work. I know that there are made in the United States with your mould and the details sent for perfect and bespoke fitting but how is it possible to know how you teeth will evolve throughout the course of the treatment? I understand that you are given the full set of aligners from the start but what if your teeth react differently and therefore the next set of aligners no not fit. What would happen then? Sorry for being so nosey i just want to be thorough in my research and get the best brace system and I really like the sound of invisalign,
hope you can help thank you for your time

I have lost my first Invisalign tray. What would you advise I do?

May 23rd, 2011
Q.

Hi,
I am on my first invisalign trays, i have been wearing them for 2 weeks and 5 days – at which point I lost them. I was told when I had them fitted to go back in 2 weeks, but was only able to get appointment for 4 weeks after my original fitting.
I am going to reing them tomorrow to see f there if any chance I can get seen earlier.
As i have already worn them for over the two weeks, would it be OK to wait for another week and two days before going back for my next tray? Or will my teeth move too much in this time. I know I could pay for replacement aligners, but as I have actually worn them for enough time already, I feel like I would only be paying because I cannot get an earlier appointment! I hope this makes sense, what would you advise?

Many thanks.

Can I use Invisalign for treating relapsed teeth?

April 12th, 2011
Q.

I had braces when I was younger and they gave me a really great smile. The problem is I hav been moving around a lot for work so have not really had the chance to visit a dentist regularly and I think my teeth have relapsed, I feel like they are pushing outward again and they are aching. Could I use Invisalign to treat this?

Would Invisalign be able to move my teeth out of the gum to improve speech?

January 20th, 2011
Q.
Hi, I’ve had two bouts of orthodontic treatment, the first one in 1996-1997 and then another one in 1999-2000. I started off with gappy teeth, and the first treatment closed all the gaps. But a mistake was made and the whole upper set of teeth were pushed backwards into the mouth…. So the second treatment was to pull them back forward. The end result was straight teeth, but the bite is not quite right (half a tooth’s length out of sync) but more annoyingly for me, I strongly believe that my front two top teeth are still embedded in the gum just a little too much than when they first started out prior to 1996 (their natural state). It hinders my speech a bit, pronouncing the letter ‘S’ is difficult because there is not enough room behind the front teeth for the tongue to hit, and I feel that drawing the teeth between 0.5mm and 1mm out of the gum would improve my speech tremendously. Can Invisalign do this? You help would be greatly appreciated; thanks.,

What should I do if I think my teeth have relapsed following treatment?

January 5th, 2011
Q.
I did an Invisalign treatment which I completed 90-95% of (I think only 2 out of 24 were left), unfortunately, I lost the last two braces in a house move so could not complete it. Since my teeth looked pretty OK, I just used the last brace I had as a retainer until Sep of this year and then stopped using it. Now I feel that my teeth might be relapsing (for e.g. that last brace won’t fit anymore), what would be the best course of action for me? I don’t really want to loose all the work that the Invisalign braces did for me. Please advise. Thanks very much!,

If my bottom molars are baby teeth will invisalign be able to correct spaces at the back?

January 5th, 2011
Q.
Hi, I’m supposed to be getting my impressions made in a few weeks. I have very straight teeth with little spaces in between and a little more space in between the bottom teeth as my first molars are baby teeth. My dentist mentioned to me that Invisalign might leave spaces in the back of my mouth before my molars. Now this is making me extremely hesitant as why would I pay to have the spaces removed and shifted to the back of my mouth. I have a big smile so I’m worried I’d be able to see them. Is this normal??,

My dentist still hasn’t given me my retainers and I think my teeth may have moved forward again. What can I do?

December 10th, 2010
Q.
I have come to the end of my treatment, and I am not happy with the results despite being given a couple of extra retainers. The practioner says there is nothing more to do, and i believe i was missold this treatment. However, i went for my final appointment on 20th oct 2010, and they have still not given me my retainer. I have worn the last tray, but feel my teeth have moved forward again. Can this happen with such a delay? I called them and they said they forgot to call me and have booked me in next week. Thanks,
