Q.
I had Invisalign treatment done while I was in Canada. As I knew I was coming to university in the UK I opted for a permeant retainer/metal wire on the back of my lower teeth. It has now been 3 years and I now am having tooth pain very similar to when I would start wearing a new Invisalign treatment and the teeth are pushing against the wire. Should I be concern as I have felt this pain for a few weeks? Is there anything I can do while I am in the UK (I am here for another year)

Hello there! It is quite unusual for you to experience pain on your teeth due to your fixed retainer. I have had mine on for a total of 17 years and never experienced any discomfort. I would suggest that you go to visit a dentist and have your teeth checked out, in order to evaluate the vitality of those teeth (to check the nerves) and also have an x-ray of the roots to assess the area. Best of luck, Vasileia.
