Is my daughter’s tooth grinding causing her Invisalign tray to break?

June 26th, 2012
Q.

Hello, my question is for my 14 yr. old daughter who has been wearing Invisalign. First, I’d like to mention she grinds her teeth badly at night and whenever she is stressed. That being said, she has broken multiple trays. And, at the last dentist visit the bottom tray was so off it would not fit. So, new impressions had to be made and the dentist truly feels that the breakage is from her not wearing them 22 hrs. a day. Is it possible they are breaking from her grinding and maybe people who grind their teeth should not be canadites for Invisilign. My daughter insists she’s been wearing them and we did tell the dentist that she grinds her teeth at the consultation. Your view would be very much appreciated. VERY frustrating !!!

Is it usual to require more aligners beyond the suggestion treatment time?

June 19th, 2012
Q.

hello dr

is it usual for invisalign treatment to take longer than was first diagnosed-so to speak! I though it would only be twelve months, but now my dentist wants me to have another two months of braces. I just wanted to make sure tht this was common practice mainly because i think my teeth look perfect now. What do you think is my best course of action?
thank you for your help on the matter,

Could you advise me on Invisalign treatment here in the UK?

June 18th, 2012
Q.

Hello Dr Adam,
I recently moved to the Uk from Canada and was wondering if you could give me some advice regarding Invisalign treatment.
I had been looking into getting the treatment back in Canada but I was transferred to London before I got a chance to actually get treatment which might be for the best really.
I don”t know very much about the dentist industry here, whether it is similar to Canada or not?
Could you advise me how I go about finding a good place to have a consultation for Invisalign here as I would like to start treatment ASAP. Is there a way of knowing which are the best places to go and is the pricing different depending on the skills or the geography of the dentist?
In Canada you would get two or three sets of braces at a time, is it the same here?
Thanks for reading my problem and i look forward to any advice that you can offer, kind regards, Allie

After braces treatment will my teeth reverse back to their original position?

June 6th, 2012
Q.

My two front teeth buckle inwards and causes my alot of pain in the mornings and also when eating. I have been to one orthodontsist quite a few years ago who old me I would have to have teeth taken out before any treatment could be done and also that my teeth would reverse back to their original state.
I really want to do something about this. I am 33 and I don’t have lots of money so I would also have to look at what in terms of treatment I could afford.
Do you think this is right or should I get a second opinion?

How will a missing tooth affect my braces treatment?

June 1st, 2012
Q.

I have wanted braces treatment for a while now because my teeth buck inwards at the top and my bottom front teeth are crooked. I was looking into whether the Inman Aligner or Invisalign would be suitable as I want a discreet look for my job.
I haven’t had any consultations yet about this as I want to be in a financially stable situation before I proceed.
The problem I have now is that during a rugby match someone knocked out one of my teeth and I had to have an emergency appointment at a dentist near where I was playing.
How will this affect my braces treatment? The emergency dentist cleaned the area and gave me antibiotics and briefly discussed my options.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.
