How long do I have to wear the fixed retainer for?

Q. Hi, i\’ve just finished my treatment and i\’ve been told i need a fixed retainer but i don\’t know how long i have to wear it for. Do you have any idea how long i\’d have to wear it for after having the invisalign treatment?,

A. I recommend my patients to have a fixed retainer permanently to reduce the risk of relapse after teeth straightening. A fixed retainer is a little thi wire which is stuck behing your front 4-6 teeth on the tongue side of your teeth.
