I gave up smoking not long ago, but have replaced it with chewing gum. Can I do this when wearing aligners?

Q. What is your view on chewing gum with the aligners. I am about to start treatment only I gave up smoking three months ago and this has been replaced with gum. Is there any hope for me!,
A. Hello, It is not ideal to chew anything with the aligners in your mouth. When you eat and drink it is better to take them out.Have you tried patches before? Even for the inhalators, you might want to consider taking the aligners out for that short period of time.
