I’ve been told that I need a fixed retainer, is this a bad thing?

Q. hey i\’ve been told i now need a fixed retainer! is this a bad thing? i thought my treatment was complete also will the retainer be visible??,

A. The fixed retainer is a thin piece of wire on the back of the teeth. It should not be visible to other people when they are talking to you. Having a fixed retainer is not a bad thing. I would have a read up on the website to find out the advantages and disadvantages of each types of retainer.
