Is it possible to have the attachments on the back of the teeth? Or can I have no attachments and just increase treatment time?

Q. Hi Yesterday I had my first aligners fitted and i have attachments on the top and bottom. I thought the entire point of Invisalign was that they fitted close against the teeth and were invisble? My attachments are so obvious that i am horrified with the end result and i am considering giving up on the whole thing – howvever im not even sure this is an option as my dentist has had to shave between my teeth so now i have noticable gaps. I am so disappointed with Invisalign – no where on the website does it mention attachments – whats worse is that looking on the internet it seems everyone has to have them so why is this not stated as standard???? the main questions i want to ask are whether there are any alternatives? for example, can i have the attachments on the back of the teeth rather than the front? is it possible to have no attachments and just increase the period of wear instead? if i take the attachments off my teeth is there any way to remove the bump in the aligner? Please help – i am totally devastated! thanks ,
A. I am sorry that you had not been told about the attachments. The gaps that you are talking about is nt something I would do at the beginning, and certainly not at the front. The attachments are necessary to help in keeping the brace tight, rotating or moving teeth etc In some circumstances it is possible to have less buttons or place some on the backs of the teeth. If you are adamant and about to give up, then please ask your dentist to either remove buttons and do new impressions and I will help him/her in the planning, or to transfer your case to another dentist? removing the buttons does not mean that the bumps will dissapear from the aligners, new aligners wil be needed.
