Is there a problem with drinbking alcohol whilst wearing aligners?

Q. what is your advice on breaking the rules and not always taking out the aligners when drinking or eating? alcohol for example, i aint an alcoholic or nount but for a friday night it can cause a bit of a hassle.,
A. I would advise you to remove your aligners whilst eating, because they can brake or get distorted from the biting pressure. As far as drinking is concerned, water is absolutely fine to drink with the aligner in. Any other drinks, alcohol for example is not recommended with the aligners in place, simply because there is sugar in alcohol and we do not want the teeth to be bathed in it. I would advise to have your drinks, besides water, without the aligners in place, brush your teeth as soon as possible and put them back on. If it is a good few hours you will not be wearing them, I would extend the wear of that set of aligners an extra day.
