My dentist has suggested doing orthodontic treatment because I have short tooth roots. Is this ideal?

Q. I am scheduled to start invisalign treatment next month. I have been told I have very short tooth roots and as a consequence my orthodontist has suggested doing all of the orthodontic treatment as quickly as possible (less than six months) to prevent more resorption. I am unsure however as surely moving teeth quickly would be worse. (I am assuming that greater force would be applied to my teeth to accomplish the same amount of work in less time.) Is my orthodontist correct, or will this cause more resorption than doing it over a longer period of time?,
A. It is difficult to advise you without seeing you but sometimes quick treatment is a better option and sometimes slower treatment is the better option if you are unsure ask your dentist or seek a second opinion.
