Can Invisalign braces cause root resorption?

April 27th, 2011
Q.

I am thinking about getting an invisalign brace but am worried about some things I have heard about it, including something called root absorption, who are the people who are most at risk of this, how can you protect yourself from it and how can you tell if you have it?
Many thanks

I have short roots so am using Invisalign to straighten my teeth, are there any bad side effects?

Q.

I am going to get Invisalign in a couple of weeks. I had brace in my youth and have very short roots. Because of this my dentist wants to do all the orthodontic treatment as quickly as possible to prevent root resorption. Couldnt this make the problem worse by apllying greater force to the teeth? I have not been able to find much info online so if you could give me some advice that would be great.

My dentist has suggested doing orthodontic treatment because I have short tooth roots. Is this ideal?

December 7th, 2010
Q.
I am scheduled to start invisalign treatment next month. I have been told I have very short tooth roots and as a consequence my orthodontist has suggested doing all of the orthodontic treatment as quickly as possible (less than six months) to prevent more resorption. I am unsure however as surely moving teeth quickly would be worse. (I am assuming that greater force would be applied to my teeth to accomplish the same amount of work in less time.) Is my orthodontist correct, or will this cause more resorption than doing it over a longer period of time?,
