The dentist cut my gums when he was shaving my teeth. Is this normal?

Q. I just had three teeth shaved and in doing so the doctor cut my gums as he brought the tool up while shaving. Is this suspose to happen. I\’m suspose to get three more teeth shaved in the future. Also what can I do so I don\’t get an infefection from this?,

A. this is normal and nothing to worry about.
