Which Treatment Is Best To Close A Gap Between My Front Teeth?

Q.
Hi Dr Thorne. I am 25 years old, and since last year I’ve noticed a gap between my front teeth, which I’m really embarrassed about. I no longer smile on photos because it just looks horrific. Please tell me, is there a treatment that can fix the gap? I’d love to get my smile back to how it was before, as it’s making me very miserable at the moment. Thank you in advance.

Hello there, thank you for your query. I’m sorry to hear that you are so unhappy. The first thing to do would be to work out why the gap has appeared. Then you have a number of options.

Braces are one option, as they would move the teeth closer together and close the gap. If you are conscious of your image you might like to try invisible braces like Invisalign, or braces that fit to the back of your teeth like Incognito. This however would depend on your case, so it would be best to speak to an orthodontist to help you decide.
If not braces, another option is composite bonding. This would involve adding a tooth coloured material to the teeth.
The best idea would be to see to a cosmetic dentist, preferably one with orthodontic knowledge.
Good luck, I hope you’re smiling again soon!
