Will invisalign ruin my porcelain crowns?

Q. I have dental crowns on my front teeth, they\’re porcelain and I\’ve had them in for several years now. I\’m looking into getting invisalign but just concerned that the aligners will ruin my crowns. i understand that the crowns cannot be moved but I\’m c

oncerned that they could be chipped by the aligners. What should I do?,
A. it is very unlikely that the crowns will be chipped by the aligners, I use invisible braces on patient with crowns with no problems. I do make my patients aware that there is a small chance that the margins of the crown can show around the gum area after treatment is completed and may have to consider replacing the crowns if necessary
