I have had a couple of Invisalign consultations, one wiht an orthodontist and one with a dentist. The prices quoted were significantly different. Would going with the cheaoer quote be risky?

Usually yes, going with the cheaper one is risky unless the dentist has hundreds of cases under his belt, has no complaints on forums etc.
