How long does invisalign normally take to close teeth gaps?

December 17th, 2009
Q.
How long does invisalign normally take to straighten teeth? Is it quicker or just as quick as metal braces? I have small gaps between my teeth and they are not crooked but they will need to be brough closer to gether I guess.

When will my attachments be removed?

December 17th, 2009
Q.
I started my invisalign treatment and the dentist but a hell of a lot of attachments on my teeth. I was not expecting this but as long as it gets the job done. When will these attachments only be taken off closer to the end of the treatment or can they be taken off earlier? Can’t say I am liking them all that much.

I have read online that some people keep there aligners in mouthwash from time to time to help clean them thoroughly. Is this safe to do or something I should stay away from?

Why is invisalign making my lips dry?

December 16th, 2009
Q.
Since starting invisalign I have a had the usual symptom of a lot of saliva building up and speech being shall we say impaired. But now, there is also a problem with my lips being really dry. I can’t see why this would be thoguht but it is a problem I have not had before starting invisalign. All I can do at the moment is use lip balm. Why would this be happening?

How many refinements are normally needed?

December 16th, 2009
Q.
I am coming toward the end of my invisalign treatment and have been told by my dentist that I am going to need some refinements? Will this just involve the same process of taking moulds and such to get them? How many refinements are normally needed?

Can I still have invisalign considering tooth was knocked out?

December 16th, 2009
Q.
I had been about to get in contact with a dentist to have a consultation to see if I was okay for invisalign, but now I was in an accident and one of the teeth to the side but near the front was knocked out. I am devestated as I have wanted to get my teeth sorted for ages but now this has happened. Can I still go ahead with invisalign? Is there any treatment I can have to make invisalign a possibility? Thanks.

Is invislaign possible if I have four missing teeth?

December 15th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Akere, I had braces when I was about 12-14 (I am now 21) and my teeth have relapsed. I recently had 4 extractions on all sides in the back because of tooth decay. I was wondering, is invisalign still an option with these four missing teeth? Thank you.

How would I go about starting invisalign treatment?

December 15th, 2009
Q.
I am interested in invisalign but am not all that sure to start. Should I just book a consultation with a clinic closest to me or is there a better way to go about it?
