Could bone loss have anything to do with previous Invisalign treatment?

Q. I finished my Invisalign course almost a year ago. Unfortunately during a follow up appointment my dentist noted bone loss and recommended bone augmentation. Could this be anything to do with the invisalign. And more importantly, how much is it going to hurt!!!!!,
A. It is unlikely that this may be due to Invisalign. I would recommend you speak to your dentist to find out the reason for the bone loss, smoking, gum disease etc can cause bone loss. Bone augmentation can sometimes cause some discomfort but I would recommend you speak to your dentist
