Q. I understand with metal bracesc that the teeth are moved gradually thanks to tightening of the wires, but I am not sure how the invislaign system works. How is it that they are able to move teeth but without the need for wires or any of that?
A. Each aligner moves your teeth approximately 0.5mm. The aligner is not a perfect fit to your teeth but over the two weeks you wear it the teeth mould to that aligner thus moving the teeth. It is very clever.

Q. How does invisalign work? Are patients given a few aligners to take home with them, which they change at set intervals, and then return to the dentist for a check up, where they get their next set of aligners? I have been researching this as I want to have invisalign treatment.
A. Invisalign is a clear lightweight plastic material, which uses gentle pressure to move your teeth. It’s custom made for your teeth and you go through a series of aligners that should be changed every two weeks.
Review with your dentist every 6-8 weeks.
