How long lasting is the affect of sedation at the dentist?

Q. I have read about sedation through local anaesthetic being used for nervous patients when undergoing dental treatment. I am one of those who will put of a dentist appointment for any possible reason available, but am interested in this sedation technique. How long would the affects last? Would I be able to work on the same day? or even drive?
A. IV Sedation will put you in a relaxed state of mind during dental treatment. We see a lot of very nervous patients at our practice and IV sedation works really well and helps them overcome their fears.

You will not be able to drive after having sedation and will require a chaperone to take you home as you will feel drowsy for a few hours after treatment.
