Q. I want to get invisalign braces but am worried that my teeth may be slightly too crooked to be acceptable for the treatment. I am going to have a consultation, but I have a few questions that I was hoping you could answer. Is it necessary to extract teeth as part of invisalign treatment to make space for the teeth to move? Do they cause less pain than fixed braces? And, are invisalign braces capable of fixing quite crooked teeth?
A.
Extraction is only indicated for severe case of crowding.
A majority of patients do not need teeth removed. Space can be created by interproximal reduction.
There is less discomfort compared to fixed braces.
