Q. Hello, I am coming to the end of my invisalign treatment and am really happy with the results. However, I really want to get my teeth whitened as their colour seems to have yellowed since undergoing treatment. The problem with this is that I want to get it done as soon as possible but will be going away very soon after my final dental appointment. Is it possible to get my teeth whitened while still undergoing invisalign treatment?
A. You can still have your teeth whitened whilst having Invisalign treatment but only if there are not attachments on them. If there are attachments or “blobs” added to your teeth with tooth coloured material, the whitening gel will not whiten underneath them. If you have them taking off there is a risk the Invisalign treatment may not be as effective.
I would speak to your dentist and look at the Clincheck to see if the attachments play a vital role near the end stages of the treatment. If not then have them taken off and whiten away!
