Is tooth extraction necessary before starting invisalign?

Q. My dentist has told me that if I am to go ahead with invisalign then I will need to get one tooth extracted. I thought the whole poinf of this treatment was so that you did not need to lose any of your teeth? Is there not another option in stead of having my tooth extracted?
A. Orthodontics of any kind needs space. An extraction may not be the only choice, but you may need another opinion
