Removing My Vivera Braces Really Hurts After My Retainer Was Re-Cemented.

Q.
Dear Dr Kumar

I finished my Invisalign treatment in June 2013. I have a small metal retainer behind my top 6 teeth and the Vivera night time braces. The metal retainer came slightly loose at one end and this was re-cemented the same day I realised it was loose.

Since then I have had pain in all my front teeth, especially the one which is next to main one, which I wanted straightened. It has been over a week since the repair. Removing my Vivera braces really hurts and my teeth hurt all day.

Is this normal? Should I be worried?

I would appreciate your comments and help.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry, the teeth can still be loose at the end of treatment as the new bone is still immature.
If the teeth hurt too much then ask your dentist to see if the retainer is fitting properly or even get a fixed retainer on both arches to help stabilise the teeth. This is the most advice I can offer without seeing you in person. Best wishes, Dr R Kumar.
