What treatment should I choose to correct my bite?

Q.
Hi, when I smile my back teeth meet but my front teeth don’t, I think my dentist said it was a high in bite but I could be wrong, he said to get it fixed I would have to have my jaw broken and it all re-set he also said I would be awake!. It’s never really bothered me but recently I’ve noticed it seems to be getting worse, I can’t bite sellotape and eating things like sandwiches with tomato or cucumber on is becoming harder as I can’t bite through it so usually end up with it hanging out of my mouth which as you can imagine is embarrassing. I was just wondering if there is another way of getting the problem sorted and if not is there away of being put to sleep to have it done, I’m not the best patient and usually have a little cry and shake no matter how small the procedure so the thought of being awake whilst they broke my jaw is petrifying. Also I know that I wouldnt be able to have this done under the NHS so I was wondering how much this is likely to cost to have done Thank you for taking the time out to read this is much appreciated.

Hi

It sounds like you have something know as an anterior open bite, but difficult to say without an examination. I have treated these with fixed braces, so this could be an option.
