Q. I have just started invisalign but have noticed inflammation of my gums and some bleeding since starting a couple of days ago. Is there something wrong, or does this happen for some patients at the start?
A. It does happen to some patients at the start of the Invisalign treatment as it is something new in your mouth. The aligner does sit and may press on the gums during the treatment.
It is very important that after you remove the aligners for snacks and meals you brush your teeth to clean them as any plaque under the aligners could cause gingivitis (bleeding gums).
