Q. I have heard from my brother thathsi dentist advised he wear retainers for the rest of his life once invisalign treatment is complete, but is this really necessary? When I had fixed braces when I was younger I only had to wear my retainers for a certain amount of time and my teeth only moved back slightly but not noticeable. So, is it really essential?
A. Hello,
Without seeing the bite it is difficult to tell. The retainer would help to keep the teeth in position, otherwise the teeth could relapse. I would recommend to wear the removable appliance for a good couple of years.
