What is the difference between Clearstep and Invisalign?

Q. I have been talking to my dentist about possibly having braces as my teeth are crooked and I am still at an age where I think I am young enough to do it. My dentist has mentioned invisalign which is why I am here but has also said about clearstep which I have not heard all that much about. Could you tell me a bit about the differences for these treatments and which one is quicker and cheaper? Thank you, sarah.
A. Hi Sarah,

Thanks for your email.

Invisalign pioneered the clear aligner system over 10 years ago, Clearstep are the UK equivalent that have been around for almost as long. Each has their advantages and disadvantages.
With Invisalign you can see what the final result can look like after you have had the impressions taken on a computer generated animation. With Clearstep there is an orthodontist who looks at the impressions, photographs and xrays taken to treatment plan the movement of your teeth. Duration wise I would say Invisalign is quicker as changing of aligners is more fluid (they are all made together at the start of the treatment), with Clearstep, a new impression must be taken after every 8 aligners. It can take clearstep about a month before the next set of aligners are made.

The costs will vary depending on how much treatment you have and the pricing structure of the practice. It would be best to see a dentist that does both and get an estimate.

Kind regards
