Will smoking have a negative effect on invisalign braces?

Q. I am to get my first set of invisalign aligners tomorrow at the dentist. I am a smoker, and have about five a day. Not too bad but not very good. I would like to know if smoking will have any negative effect on braces. Should I take them out when I smoke?

A. It is not advisable to smoke with your aligners in, not only will they become very stained but you may end up damaging them too
